Nairobi, KENYA: Three journalists David Ndolo, Stafford Ondego and Alex Njue who were on Tuesday night arrested at their homes and taken to KICC police station have apologized over the incident.

The three are said to have photoshopped and leaked fake nude photos of Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala and spread it on the internet under the order of  Sport, Culture and National heritage cabinet secretary Rashid Echesa.

According to the report from the police, the trio allegedly cropped Malala’s head and placed it on a nude man’s body in a compromising situation with a nude woman in lodging.

The senator had also made the revelation on his Facebook page and warned that he will hand the matter over to the criminal investigation department.

The three journalists later claimed that Echesa had only sent them 5000 through his driver Fredrick Ouma each in order to photoshop the image.

Ouma has also apologized over the incident.

“On behalf of my fellow colleagues and myself, I apologize to senator Malala for what happened yesterday, after being used to edit his photo and portraying a bad image of him.” Ouma his driver said.

It is not yet clear if the journalists will be arraigned in court.
