Recce squad officer detained over Monica Kimani’s murder

An officer from the General Service Unit (GSU) Recce Squad has been detained following the murder of 28 year old Monica Kimani.

Jennings Olando Odhiambo, a RECCE squad officer attached to the US Embassy was questioned by homicide detectives who say they have evidence linking him to the murder.

Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti on Friday told Capital FM News that the suspect will be charged in court on Monday.

Police say he is the suspect seen on CCTV surveillance cameras with Irungu when they drove into Lamuria gardens apartments where Monica lived, and are believed to have committed the murder jointly.

Citizen TV news presenter Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu are being remanded awaiting bail application ruling on the 24th of October.

The two were arrested following the murder of Monica in September.
