5 KDF soldiers killed in Lamu IED attack

Lamu, KENYA:At least 5 police officers were reported dead while six others got injured after their vehicle ran over an IED explosive near Bodhoi area, Boni forest, Lamu County.

Sources say the vehicle was moving from Baragoni towards Bodhoi when the tragic incident happened early in the morning.

Department of defense headquarters gave a directive to issue a statement later on.the incident happened in a forest that has been experiencing rampant attacks in the past few months,due to this KDF officers had been deployed in the area.

This comes a day after Kenya and Tanzania marked 20 years since the horrific US embassy bomb blust that left 224 people dead and over 5000 injured.

The IED device is suspected to have been planted by Al Shabaab militia.Makalani,Sangulu, Ijara,and Handara are all areas within the linda Boni operation.

The attack comes days after some honey harvesters claimed to have spotted unusual people close to 200 that were heavily armed at Belasange within Boni forest.
