Sh. 5 M Safaricom sponsorship boosts Karen Masters tournament

Nairobi, KENYA: The Karen Masters Tournament has received a boost after Safaricom chipped in with a sh. 5million sponsorship on Wednesday.

The 2nd edition of the tournament is expected to run from 19th to 22nd July 2018.

Speaking during the unveiling of the sponsorship on Wednesday, Safaricom Director of Regional Sales and Operations Steve Okeyo said the company was committed to helping both amateurs and professional golfers.

“We are proud to be part of the second edition of the Karen Masters Tournament and are especially thrilled that this year’s tournament is affiliated with the Sunshine Tour which is part of the International Federation of PGA Tours. It’s always a pleasure to partner with KCB on a tournament that provides Kenyan golfers,” Steve Okeyo said.

The sponsorship will entail support for the junior golfers’ shootout, support for event logistics, a fully kitted media center and wireless connectivity for the secretariat.

A total of 156 players from  21 countries around the world who include South African golfer Justin Harding are expected to attend the event.

Sh.15 million worth of prizes are up for grabs with the winner being expected to walk away with a kitty worth sh 2.3 million.
