Patel dam owner together with five others to remain in remand

Nakuru,KENYA: The owner of the Milmet dam( Patel dam) Perry Mansukh together with five others are to spend the weekend in jail pending their bail ruling that has set for Monday.

This is after the 6 denied the charges at the Naivasha law courts.

The owner Perry Mansukh, the Patel coffee estates general manager Vinoj Kumar surrendered on Thursday and were charged with manslaughter and failure to prepare an environmental impact assessment report, while the Nakuru County Water Director  Johnson Kamau was charged with manslaughter  and neglect of official duty charges which he denied.

Three more suspects Winnie Muthoni a water rights officer in Nakuru ,Tomkin Odhiambo the Regional Manager Water Management Authority and  Jacinta Were an Assistant Technical Operator with the Water Management Authority pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter,  and neglect of official duty.

Three more suspects who include Lynette Jepchirchir Cheruiyot and Williec Were both NEMA employees and Julius Kavitha a subcounty administrator are yet to appear in court.

On Monday, the court is expected to issue a decision on whether to release the suspects on bond.
