Ruto says he is ready for lifestyle audit

Mombasa, KENYA: Deputy President William Ruto has said he is ready for a lifestyle audit as ordered by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta ordered a lifestyle audit for public servants, including himself and his Deputy.

The President said all public servants will be asked to explain the source of their wealth adding that all those found to have plundered public coffers will be put to task to explain the source of their wealth.

The President said the lifestyle audit will be key amongst other measures put in place by the government to curb graft.

Speaking during Heads of schools conference at Wild Waters in Mombasa, Ruto said the audit will put to rest questions about his wealth asking other public officers to follow suit.

He said that he hoped that the audit would reveal the rumors and the half-truths that have been said.

“William Ruto will be among the first to submit himself for that exercise”, he said.

DP also accused the media of focusing on him alone since president Kenyatta ordered a lifestyle audit of all public officers.

“The media have done some work on me. I expected that they would continue to someone else but the media has stopped with me,’ He added.
