Mombasa,KENYA:The  National police service has issued a red-light over Alshabaab recruits trying to stage attacks over the holy month of Ramadhan .

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the  communication office of the National police service , the returnees are said to be targeting the  counties of Mandera,Wajir and Garissa .

One of the  returnees Ahmed Dabar who hails from Wajir county is said to  have been the mastermind of the terror attack at Qarsa primary school in February that left 3 teachers dead.

According to police , Ahmed who is a former student at Madrasatul Muad in Wajir county has in the past  been sent by one another Alshabaab member Ibrahim Mohamed to look for targets to attacks.

Police term Ibrahim as the leader of the recruits who are said to be plotting attacks from their hideout in Gedo region on the Somali side.

This came a day before authorities in Lamu warned school heads in Lamu not to send students home over school fees arrears over fears that they might be recruited into the Alshabaab terror group.

Speaking in Mokowe on Thursday Lamu county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri warned that Al shabaab recruiters are always lurking and that such students could easily fall prey to such.

“We don’t want to run the risk of students falling into the hands of Alshabaab recruiters or worse still drugs.Thats why we really have to strive to have the students stay in school at all times,”he said.

Earlier in the Month, 7 Kenya Defence forces soldiers were killed  in an attack by Alshabaab militants at  the Kenyan side of Gede near the border with Somalia.
