Mombasa, KENYA: A section of Mombasa County residents on Friday took to the streets to protest what they termed as filthiness, nepotism and insecurity in the County.

Protestors led by Mombasa league of Women Forum filed a petition at the office of president through Coast Regional coordinator Mr.Nelson Marwa addressing their concerns.

The protestors claimed that the government hospitals in the County lack enough resources to provide quality health care, dirty environment, and poor waste management by the County government.

The petition further stated that there is nepotism in the County citing that the head of county Inspectorate is governor Joho’s brother.

Other issues captured in the petition include; extortion, insecurity, and cess collected not accounted for by the County government.

They now want the national government to consider the petition as a matter of urgency.

They have called upon the County government to provide an audit report touching on all the County transactions.

An ultimatum of 14 days has been given to the County government to look at the issues and try to work on the same, failure to which they have threatened to take further appropriate actions.
