Kilifi,KENYA:Shimo la Tewa Member of County Assembly Samuel Ndago wants operating licenses of hotels entertaining homosexuals withdrawn.
Speaking earlier in the week, Ndago urged hotel staff to report characters exhibiting homosexuality tendencies.
“My plea to the hoteliers is very simple, kindly expose and bring these people to us, if you fail to cooperate we will revoke your license of work, period,” he said.
Ndago argued that homosexuality activities had destroyed morals of young people in Mtwapa area of Kilifi who have opted to work as gay sex workers and he intends to summon about 63 people involved homosexuality activities to ensure they are counseled back to their normal status.
“This business is against our African traditions and morals,It’s becoming common and we are not ready to take it anymore as it affects even our school going children who do not concentrate anymore in classes.” he added.
He said the move is aimed at empowering the gay sex workers to look for alternative income generating activities warning that all those who will not cooperate and continue working would face the rule of law without compromise.
He said he had already talked to Red Cross officers in the county to help in counseling.
This comes just a few months after religious leaders in Mombasa accused gay sex workers of disguising themselves as religious women by covering themselves in hijab.
