Lamu, KENYA: Two police officers were Tuesday midmorning seriously injured after suspected al-Shabaab terrorists attacked their escort vehicle in Witu area.
Police sources told Baraka FM on Tuesday that one officer suffered serious injuries including a broken leg.
The officers were escorting a bus bound to Mombasa when about 30 armed al-Shabaab terrorists lay ambushed to them.
The first bus had about six police officer another rescue team were mobilized to rescue the police officers but were also attacked by the terrorists.
The two officers injured were set to be airlifted to Nairobi for special treatment, according to the source.
