Nairobi,KENYA:The acting interior cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has declared Wednesday 25th a national holiday.
In a gazette notice published on Tuesday 24th the ministry says the decision was arrived at so as to allow Kenyans to participate in the electoral process.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the acting cabinet secretary for interior and coordination of national governenment in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the public holidays act declares that Wednesday the 25th of October 2017 be a public holiday to accord Kenyans the opportunity to participate in the fresh presidential elections”Reads the Gazette notice.
A repeat of the presidential election is scheduled for 26th of October but leaders of the NASA coalition have urged supporters to boycott the election.
