Court refuses to strike out petition challenging Joho’s election

Mombasa,KENYA:Mombasa high court has declined to strike out the petition challenging the reelection of the Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.

The governor Ali  Hassan Joho had filed application seeking court to strike out petition filed by former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar Sarai.

Joho claimed that the petition did not have merit since his deputy was not enjoined in the petition.

But in ruling lady justice Lydia Achonde said that it was only the governor elected during the election and there was no need to enjoin deputy governor Dr.William Kingi.

Former Mombasa senator who was also seeking the gubernatorial seat on a Wiper party ticket Hassan Omar challenged the victory of Joho claiming that his re-election was marred by irregularities.
