Mogadishu,SOMALIA:Somalia headquartered Alshabaab militants have told Reuters agency that they killed 17 Somali National Army Soldiers in a dawn attack on an army base 50 kilometers South West of the capital Mogadishu.
According to the group spokesperson , Abdiasis Abu Musaib the militants had rammed in the base on Friday morning killing 17 soldiers , controlling the base while taking military vehicles with them.
However, government officials confirmed the attack to AFP but refused to reveal the number of casualties.
However in past instances , al shabaab has been quoted giving a higher figure.
Alshabaab has launched a decade long insurgency in a bid to topple the UN backed Somali government and impose its strict Sharia Laws.
