Bulawayo,ZIMBABWE: Kenya’s Harambee Starlets hopes of dethroning Zimbabwe the COSAFA Women’s Championship title turned futile after they were spanked 4-0 by the latter in the semi-finals played Thursday in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe who qualified for the last four on virtue of being the best placed losers from the group stages were 2-0 up by half time and would then double the score-line after the break.

Participating in the championship as a guest team Starlets had emerged the side to beat especially after scoring a whopping 17 goals in their three group stages matches.

They however failed to replicate the same when needed the most, playing a second fiddle to Zimbabwe who now will be looking to defend their title against South Africa in the finals.

South Afrika qualified for the finals after beating Zambia 5-3 in post-match penalty lottery after a three all draw in regulations time.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars will battle Zambia on Saturday in a third position play-off match.
