Mombasa, KENYA: A man was on Tuesday charged in a Shanzu court for allegedly attempting to kill his 9-year old daughter.
The court heard that Mr. Jumaa Kenga Futa attempted to kill her daughter by throwing her into a 70 ft well.
Mr.Futa was also charged with a second offence of assaulting and causing actual body harm to his son aged 4 years.
The offences were allegedly committed on the 8th September 2017,at Ziwa la Ng’ombe area in Kisauni sub County within Mombasa.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges before Mombasa principle Magistrate Diana Mochache.
The accused person was denied bail after prosecution told court that he will interfere with the the witnesses, who are his children.
The 9 year-old girl who was allegedly thrown in a well by her father was reported to be recovering at the hospital;the girl suffered spinal cord injuries.
The father told the court that their mother had threatened to divorce him.
“Your honour my wife had ran from my house at night and went to sleep in a near by church,” he told the court.
The case will be mentioned on the 1 st December 2017.
