London, ENGLAND; English Premier League champions Chelsea kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign on a resounding note thrashing minnows Qarabag FK 6-0 at Stamford Bridge Tuesday night.

The Blues only took five minutes to breach the opponent’s net through Pedro Rodríguez who beat Qarabag’s keeper with a 20-yard strike.

Chelsea’s victory left Davide Zappacosta the talk in town after he bagged a brace on his debut for the Antonio Conte side, including scoring a wonder goal from a tight angle.

Elsewhere, Manchester United cruised past Switzerland champions FC Basel 3-0, thanks to goals apiece from Romelu Lukaku and substitutes Marouane Fellaini and Marcus Rashfod.

United’s triumph was however ruined by injury that saw midfielder Paul Pogba stretched off after just 18 minutes to the match.

At Camp Nou Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona spank Italian giants Juventus 3-0, Bayern Munich humbled Anderletch with the same score line while AS Roma and Atletico Madrid settled for a goalless draw.

In Wednesday’s fixtures English side Tottenham welcome Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid starts their title defense against Apoel Nicosia while Liverpool will be at Anfield to hosts Spanish club Sevilla.
