Nairobi,KENYA:The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission now wants the office of Director of public prosecution to investigate their officer that slept on the job during elections.

Addressing the media on Friday in Nairobi after the nullification of President Kenyatta’s re-election, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati alluded that, the move will openly state if indeed there was any irregularities in the whole electoral process.

“I want to direct the director of public prosecution to investigate all of our officials to verify if there was any irregularities caused by some of us.” Said Chebukati.

The chair asked the Supreme Court to provide them with the full ruling as early as possible for them to be able to identify where exactly they went wrong and thereafter avert a repeat of the same.

He argued that they have tried conducting the elections bearing in mind that they had few months to prepare for the general elections.

Chebukati however, he insisted that IEBC is still mandated to carry out the elections and they are ready to conduct the next one in November this year as ordered by the court.

This comes after the supreme court on Friday nullified the declaration of president Uhuru as the president elect,a ruling made by six bench judges headed by David Maraga.
