Mombasa,KENYA: Police in Kisauni area in Mombasa County are investigating the murder of an elderly tourist couple who were found dead Sunday morning and their bodies dumped at road side in Turkey base area in kiembeni .
Police said investigations to ascertain their nationality were ongoing.
Kisauni police chief Christopher Rotich told reporters the bodies of elderly couple age between 60-70 were found dumped at the roadside.
Police received an alert at around 7am and found both of them lying motionless.The two had injuries in their bodies an indication that they were killed using a blunt object.
The incident is being treated as a murder case, according to police with scene of crime officers arriving at the area taking pictures and the surroundings.
“We believed they were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped here.We have launched investigations to established the motive of the killings.Their nationality is still unknown and our officers are working on it,”said police boss.
Investigators at the scene found two mobile phones which are being analyzed by detectives.It was not immediatly established if the cell phones belong to the murdered couples.
An eye witness whom identifies himself as Micheal Kisoi told Baraka fm the bodies were wrapped in a blanket and dumped on the road.
No arrests have been made.
