Terror suspect arrested as MCA candidate nabbed with sh. 100,000 bhang

Mombasa, KENYA: Anti-Terror Police Unit in Mombasa on Sunday evening arrested a wanted terror suspect in Mtopanga, Kisauni area.

Mustapha Juma Nassir was arrested after being tracked by the police.

Police sources told Baraka FM that the suspect crossed from Somalia, after undergoing military training on terrorism.

He was nabbed by officers who have been following him from Nairobi where he was hiding after crossing from Somalia.

Suspect had told police he was paid sh.59,000 during his training.

Two of his accomplices escaped police dragnet and a manhunt has been launched.

The suspect was taken to police headquarters where he is being interrogated.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich confirmed the arrest but said the matter is being handled by anti-terrorism police.

Meanwhile, police are holding a candidate vying for Junda Member of County Assembly seat after being nabbed with bhang worth sh 100,000.

Miss Dorothy Achieng was arrested by police officers at her home in Kisauni.

Police believe the suspect has been engaging in the drug business for a long period in the county.

Her name has featured several times on the police wanted list, according to police sources.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich confirmed her arrest saying she was arrested alone and she is being locked up at Nyali police station awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.

“We arrest her after following a tipoff from public, investigations are on,” said police boss.
