Muslim clerics endorse re-election of president Kenyatta

Mombasa,KENYA: A section of Muslim leaders in Mombasa on Wednesday supported the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Council of Imams and preachers of Kenya (CIPK) said they support President Kenyatta for incorporating Muslims in his government.

CIPK organizing Secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa stated that Jubilee administration has recognized Muslims by appointing them in senior government position such as Ambassadors, Cabinet secretaries and Leader of majority in the National assembly.

“Coast region has four Muslim cabinet secretaries in his government. We also have more than ten Muslim ambassadors in the country”, he stated.

He added that Kenyatta’s government went further to give titles deeds to Nubians after very many years of struggle.

“Jubilee government has fostered integration among different communities. This shows that Uhuru has no hate in is his heart’, said sheikh Khalifa.

The clerics also lauded the president for declaring Eid Ul Haji a national holiday and also removing tax on dates during Holy month of Ramadhan saying Muslims must show gratitude for that gesture.

On development, the over 300 clerics said the renovation of Marikiti and Kongowea markets were a shining example of President Kenyatta’s development record.

“From building footbridges and installing security lights in Changamwe and this just shows how Uhuru means business.That is why we as Muslim clerics back him’’, he declared.
