3 arrested in connection to radicalization leaflets in Likoni

Mombasa,KENYA:Undercover security agents in Likoni have arrested three suspects linked to circulation of leaflets purporting to teach radicalization.

Police have identified the suspects as Mohamood Majid 39,Mohammed Bakari Dzengo 29, and  Mwalimu Shabaan ,41.

The three were locked in at police station in Likoni after they were lured to go and assist investigators who have been tracking them.

Police sources told Baraka fm the three were likely to be flown to  CID  headquarters for further interrogation.

Police said the suspects  belong to an illegal organisation called Hizbul Tahrir linked to publishing leaflets likely to instill fear among residents.

Some of the leaflets recovered by police warned that democracy and leadership of a few will only be obtained but its consequence are will affect majority.

Likoni DCI boss Henry Ndombi told Baraka FM the suspects were arrested Saturday  after intensive investigations.

“We can confirm that we have three suspects in custody and for now the interrogation is going on,we will release further more information later as soon as we are done,” said  the DCI Boss.

The leaflets had been pinned on walls in various parts of Likoni before the officers were tasked to remove them.

Mr Ndombi asked the residents to be calm saying his officers will make sure peace prevails.

Meanwhile five suspected members of the Watalia gang surrendered to police Saturday.

The 5 were accompanied by their parents to deputy county commissioner’s office in Likoni.

Likoni deputy county commissioner Erick Wamulevu said police were profiling them.
“The DCIO is profiling them and later they will be screened,we expect more to come toward before we declare war,”said the DCC.
