Nairobi, KENYA: Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called out the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for being biased, this is after barring Wavinya Ndeti from vying for Machakos gubernatorial seat.
Speaking in Nairobi  after the high court verdict on Wavinya’s gubernatorial bid ,Musyoka said that IEBC was being biased when it ruled out that Ndeti is not suitable to vie for the seat, on grounds that she is not a Wiper party member.
“IEBC, I ask you again, what is your interest? Wavinya Ndeti is a member of Wiper. This country cannot afford another flawed election for the sake of our children and their children’s children.” Said Kalonzo.
In his ruling on Wednesday, high court judge George Odunga differed with IEBC ‘s ‘decision to bar Ndeti from vying for the gubernatorial seat, arguing that the commission’s decision lacked legal basis.
Kalonzo urged the commission to execute its mandate independently and without bias so as to give candidates fair chance in their political  bids.
Wavinya told his supporters to give her a chance by voting her as Machakos governor in the August polls.
He also urged Kenyans to uphold peace as the country heads to the August polls.
IEBC  had earlier announced that Ndeti was barred from the August 8 polls for being a member of two parties.
Through lawyer Paul Nyamodi, the commission told the court she did not resign from her Chama Cha Uzalendo as required by law before moving to Wiper.
With the ruling, Wavinya is expected to battle it out with the incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua for the Machakos Gubernatorial seat.
