Mombasa,KENYA:Medical services were on Monday paralyzed at Coast General Hospital as nurses down their tools.

A spot check by Baraka FM showed patients were stranded as others remained confused on what to do next.

Kenya nurses union Mombasa branch secretary General Peter Maroko said they will not offer any services until the government yields to their demand.

Maroko also asked nurses to stay away and wait for instructions from their union.

“We hereby notify you that the strike has officially begun. If the government is serious, then this strike will end’, he told reporters.

The nurses are protesting what they say is a breach of a collective bargaining agreement they signed with the government.
