Dummy grenade found in Kisauni,Mombasa

Mombasa,KENYA:Police in Kisauni Mombasa have launched investigations following the discovery of a ” dummy hand grenade” in a residential compound Sunday morning.

Police said the material was hurled into the compound of a man identified as Manoah Obadi and was discovered by his son as he was doing some cleaning at the compound.

The son alerted his father who later reported the matter to police.

Police sources the “hand grenade” is used for training by recruits in police training colleges.

The source added that the house where the grenade was found is next to one of the madrassa’s in the area.

“We suspect this thing was being used by some individuals for training and when they hurled it into  the compound of this man they feared to  collect it”,  the source said.

Bomb experts were called to the scene to collect it.

Police led by Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich rushed to the scene and call bomb detection and disposal squad they took it for further investigations.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich confirmed that the ” grenade” was later collected by the experts and investigations are underway.

“It has no harm,it was not live but we are investigating the matter in conjunction with bomb experts”,said Rotich.
