Mombasa, KENYA: The Government has reiterated that stun actions will be taken against any politician who will engage in chaos related cases during this electioneering period.

Speaking during a Mombasa Peace Committee Meeting on Tuesday, Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki warned the Government will not spare anybody breaching peace irrespective of their political status.

Achoki asserted they are aware some local politicians are planning to use youths to cause chaos in their bid to drum up votes ahead of the August polls, a move he said security agencies will not entertain.

”Nobody is above the law in this country, the Government will not relent taking action against any leader who think disrupting peace will earn him or her votes,”

“We will come for you, you will be arrested and you will face the full force of the law of this country. We must preach peace and ensure every citizen enjoy their rights without disturbance,” he cautioned.

The Commissioner further admonished parents against letting their children join unlawful groups that have been notorious in most areas in Mombasa especially Likoni and Kisauni

He warned security officers on patrol will arrest youths found strolling late in the evening and in the wee hours without clear purpose.

“Parents be warned, take care of your children or else we will arrest them and take them to court, we cannot allow few people to destabilize peace of the residents,” Achoki warned.

Meanwhile, the Mombasa peace committee members who represent the six sub counties in Mombasa lead by their Chairman Mohamed Jahazi will undergo a special training starting Wednesday

As disclosed by Achoki, the members will be taught on how to manage and maintain peace in their respective areas to help curb the rising number of illegitimate groups in Mombasa.
