Mombasa, KENYA: A man was on Friday morning was stoned to death by a mob in Shikaadabu Likoni sub-county after he was allegedly caught peeping through an opening of a window in one of the houses.
The deceased ,25( name withheld),is said to be a resident of the area and was attacked and descended by an irate mob who stoned him to death
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was peeping in one of the houses where a couple was having a private moment.
“This man has been going round people’s homes during morning hours,he peeps through the window with the habit of deriving pleasure secretly as he watches couples have sex ,”added another eyewitness.
Others however accused him of being a thief.
” The owner raised an alarm suspecting him to be a thief and soon a mob of about 200 people, armed with stones and clubs gathered and attacked the suspect ,”said one of the eyewitness.
Likoni Police chief Willy Simba confirmed the killings of the suspect, saying he was caught red handed trying to break into the house in an attempted robbery.
“We have launched investigations but at the same time we want to warn the public against taking the law into their hands,they should have handed the suspect to police for further action to be taken,” said police boss.
He said the body was moved to Coast general hospital morgue as investigations commenced.
