Mombasa, KENYA: A man has died after collapsing on the street in Mombasa CBD along Digo road.
The man, according to police belongs to the street family and has been receiving treatment at Coast General Hospital.
He has been staying at Makadara grounds with other street families.
Police have refuted claims that he was shot by police on claims that he was a thug.
Mombasa police commander Johnston Ipara told Baraka FM on Tuesday the middle age man has been sick for a while and was discharged from hospital on Monday.
“He was trying to cross the road, unfortunately, he fell down and dies, we want to clarify that the man was not shot by police as it has been said.” Said police boss.
He said the police were in a process of informing the man’s family.
The body has been moved to the Coast General Morgue.
