Nairobi, KENYA: The Court of Appeal has reinstated Zoo FC and Nakumatt FC to the Kenyan Premier League KPL.
In its ruling on Tuesday the Court of Appeal overturned last week’s judgment by the High Court which ruled that the two clubs’ participation in the top tier is a breach of the law.
According to the High Court the league is meant to comprise of 16 teams not 18 as it is now thus the invalidity of the Zoo and Nakumatt FC.
The Court of Appeal however decreed the two teams be restored since they were promoted following the agreement reached between the league governing body KPL and the Football Kenya Federation FKF.
Zoo FC, Nakumatt FC and FKF were the appellants in the case whose full determination will be given next month.
Zoo and Nakumatt who have two games in hand are ranked 13th and 14th on 31 and 29 points respectively in the 18-team table standings.
