Mombasa, KENYA:Two police officers have been shot by gunmen who attaked an ACK church in Ukunda,Kwale county.
The officers were manning the premises during the Sunday service,police sources said.
According to Coast police boss Larry Kieng, four gunmen confronted the officers and shot at them before escaping.
“The gunmen escaped with two Ak 47 belonging to the officers and vanished into the Kaya Tiwi forest.” Said Kieng.
He said one officer died on the spot while the other one was rushed to Mombasa Hospital for special treatment.
Police at the scene told Baraka FM that the injured officer had life threatening injuries.
The officer who died was shot on the head.
He said the four gunmen later escaped on a motorbike.
He asked the public to volunteer information which will lead to arrest of the suspects.
The officer who was rushed to the hospital succumbed to the gunshot wounds while undergoing treatment.
