London, ENGLAND: English Premier League reigning champions Leicester City has parted ways with its manager Claudio Ranieri.

The sacking comes barely nine months after the Italian guided the club to its maiden Premier League title.

Ranieri and Leicester however have struggled to replicate the fete this season, with the club sitting just one point and one position above the relegation zone.

Despite posting poor league form Leicester has continued to impress in UEFA Champions League where it has a chance to progress to quarters after picking a crucial away goal in the 2-1 defeat at Sevilla on Wednesday.

This is the second time that Ranieri has been sacked in England after he was dismissed by Chelsea in 2004 in spite of guiding them to their highest ever Premier League finish of second, behind Arsenal’s invincibles.
