Vampire Diaries actress to wear Kenyan bracelets in support of charity
Seems like Hollywood has fallen in love with Kenya; with Lupita Nyong’o being celebrated worldwide and now Canadian actresses Shay Mitchell and Nina Dobrev will be donning Kenyan made jewellery for charity.
The Vampire Diaries” alum Nina Dobrev and “Pretty Little Liars” star will be wearing the Rafiki bracelets made by more than 1,400 women in Kenya who are employed through Free The Children in the Maasai Mara region.
According to Shay Mitchell, she hopes everyone will join her in supporting this campaign to help transform the lives of those who need it most.
The Rafiki bracelets are a powerful fashion statement which will show her passion for changing the world.
“I’ve had the opportunity to visit Free The Children’s partner communities in Kenya and connect with the Maasai mamas who make these beautiful Rafiki bracelets. Seeing the impact first hand is an experience I’ll never forget,” she said.

According to the Free the Children’s organisation, each bracelet costs $10, and every piece comes with a unique code that will make it possible for buyers to trace where their donation ended up.
Nina who played Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries Series left the show after six years reasons being in the six seasons of long hours, and for a big part of it, playing two demanding roles, and so she was simply ready to get some rest, reclaim some of her freedom and move on to other opportunities.
