Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has declared Wednesday 10th April 2024 a public holiday.

In a gazette notice dated 9th April, CS Kindiki declared Wednesday 10th a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Wednesday, the 10th April 2024 shall be a Public Holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” read the Notice.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan in Kenya kicked off on 12th March, and after 30 days of fasting, prayer, and reflection Muslim faithful in the country will join others around the world in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
