MOMBASA: Mombasa United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party members have condemned the high political temperatures, restlessness, and chaos being experienced in the county, which they claim are being propagated by Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali.

Speaking on Saturday in a meeting that brought together the county’s UDA party coordinators, directors, 2022 General Elections candidates, and bonafide UDA lieutenants, the UDA members said the high political temperatures being caused by the Nyali legislature was against the unity of the coast region.

“We have seen that Mohamed Ali is very selfish, he is not ready to work with anyone in the County government of MOmbasa, he is not ready to work with anyone across the coast, he is even going against the dictates of the president to listen to the wisdom of working with Raila Amollo Odinga,” said Mgandi Kalinga, Coast Development Authority Board Director.

The members condemned the media attacks directed at UDA party Vice Chair Hassan Omar Sarai by a faction of UDA members from Mombasa supporting the Nyali MP who is working against the development of the coast region.

They further condemned the recent event where the Nyali MP got special Ramadan relief food from the National Government to distribute in the county, a role previously performed by the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK).

“He has gone further to rob the people of the cloth, you heard SUPKEM complaining of how he is robbing them of their right,” said Kalinga.

His sentiments were echoed by Sheikh Abu Qatada.

“Every beginning of Ramadhan, the national government provides special Ramadan relief food which is usually distributed by our Muslim religious leaders from SUPKEM and CIPK who have the data and know where the most vulnerable and those who are supposed to benefit from the food are. This year, we witnessed something so shameful, we saw religious leaders complaining in the media because some leaders from our UDA party interfered with this process, they took the food to distribute themselves,” said Sheikh Abu Qatada.

“Religious leaders should be respected,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Mombasa UDA members say they are aware of the detrimental effects of the detrimental effects of the actions of the Nyali MP and will stand strong to defend the party.

“We are warning these leaders who are misguiding our youth to stop. Mombasa is our home, we were born here, bred here, went to school here, and have also set up our businesses here. So we have to fight for our county and if people from the opposition want to join UDA we will allow them, we will focus solely on the development of the region,” said Mutungwa Wambua, Mombasa UDA Chair.
