The family of a woman, who committed suicide by jumping into the Indian Ocean at Kilifi Bridge last Thursday Ms Beatrice Kalume has appealed to the government for help in finding her body.

The mother of the deceased Mrs. Mary Mwadondo said she wants to find her daughter’s body and give her a befitting burial in order to get closure.

She alleges that the Kilifi County government has been of little help in finding the body since the incident.

The deceased was training to be a teacher at Shanzu TTC.

“We have used our resources to find the body but we don’t have the right equipment,” she said.

Local fishermen have also failed in their quest to locate the body and bring it to shore, according to Mrs. Mwadondo.

The relatives of the deceased said the county government said they do not have divers who could help.

“We have not received any help from either the County government or the national government. Our local government told us they do not even have oxygen tanks to help divers,” said a member of the family.

Reason for Ms. Kalume’s action has not been established. She was to graduate next year.
