1500M and 5000M record holder Faith Kipyegon says she will buy a car for her father as she had.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during a breakfast meeting with President William Ruto, Kipyegon revealed that she had promised her dad a vehicle if she breaks the records and now the time had come to keep her word.
Kipyegon had a best record of 3:49.11 in 1500m in Florence, Italy, beating Genzebe Dibaba’s previous World Record of 3:50.07 set in Monaco in 2015, before shattering the 5000m record when she ran 14:05.20 in Paris, France.
Faith Kipyegon received five million shillings and a house worth six million shillings from the government as they celebrated her at State House.
President Ruto also promised new world record holders will now receive five million shillings in a new plan that seeks to escalate Kenya’s profile as a top sporting country.
