Gor Mahia beat Bandari 2-1 on Wednesday to collect three points from the dockers.
In a 3:00 pm match played at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa, the ‘green army’ beat the hosts to maintain the lead in the FKF Premier League with 52 points, four points more than second place Tusker FC.
After a goalless first half, Gor Mahia forward Benson Omalla scored in the 46th minute of the second half to put the guests in a 1-0 lead, before adding a second goal in the 62nd minute.
A 75th-minute goal from Andrew ‘Roma’ Juma gave the hosts Bandari a fighting chance.
The Dockers, however, failed to equalize the score even after five minutes of added time to take a 2-1 loss on their home ground.
Away from action in the field, the green army and the dockers’ social media platforms continued to entertain fans with banters from both sides that began way before the match day.
The banters from Bandari are not only entertaining to the fans but their choice of using the Swahili language has also seen fans learning Swahili football terms.
Bandari is currently sitting at position seven in the league with 36 points having won 11 matches, drawn in three, and lost nine of their matches.
In third place is Nzoia Sugar with 45 points, followed by KCB with 42 points. Police FC hold position six with 40 points followed by AFC Leopards with 39 points.
Posta Rangers are at number eight with 34 points followed by Kariobangi Sharks with 33 points. Ulinzi Stars close the top 10 with 33 points.
