Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham Hotspur will be determined in the next 24 hours.
Reports claim that it will be difficult for the Italian tactician to continue as Tottenham’s head coach following his outburst after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Southampton.
In his statements, Conte said that some players are happy to stay in their comfort zone and settle for mediocrity, no matter who is the coach. He also believes if the culture at a club is not right then the club is never going to be successful.
“They’re used to it here. Don’t play for something important. They don’t want to play under pressure or under stress. Tottenham’s story is this. 20 years there is the owner & they never won something. Why?” said Conte during a briefing.
The former Chelsea and Juventus boss raised different reactions which led to the Tottenham body holding discussions concerning his remarks.
Conte was disappointed by his charges with their performances since joining the club after a successful two seasons in Italia where he won the Serie A with Inter Milan before leaving the club.
Tottenham is considering reappointing Mauricio Pochettino as head coach, with several players and staff pleading with the Argentine to return and reinvigorate the club.
Conte’s contract is up at the end of this season, but after his reaction, he could be shown an exit door even before the end of the season.
