Five cops charged with killing Mombasa conductor back in court

Five Police officers facing Murder charges of a matatu Tout in Mombasa appeared at the Milimani Court on Monday.

The five were allegedly on duty when the Late Caleb Esipino Otieno passed on while in police custody at the Changamwe Police Station on the 18th of September, 2018.

During the hearing, Changamwe OCS Abdinoor Hussein Dakane produced an Occurrence Book (OB) number before the court but failed to produce the cell registry.

Appearing before Justice Justus Bwonwonga, the OCS, told the court that entries recorded on the 18th of September, 2018 went missing in the cell register.

The case was adjourned and will be heard on the 13th of October, 2022.

Police officers facing the murder charge include;Khalif Abdulahi Sigat, James Muli Koti, Joseph Odhiambo Sirawa, Edward Kongo Onchonga, and Nelson Nkanae.

Witnesses had claimed that police assaulted the conductor, and an autopsy revealed he died from multiple wounds.
