Man plants bhang worth a million shillings in rented house

Police are searching for a man who planted cannabis sativa in a rented house in Eldoret.

The suspect, Kipchumba Michael Kibet, is said to have planted bhang at a residence within Elgon View estate in Eldoret Township.

While conducting the search on Tuesday, police recovered 129 cannabis plants.

21 were in the main bedroom, 68 in the sitting room, 14 in the dining room, and 26 in an adjacent iron sheet walled house.

“All the plants were uprooted after having been documented by DCI Scenes of Crime personnel. The plants weighed 33.5 Kgs with a street value of about one million Kenya Shillings,” said the police.

Police also recovered assorted personal documents.

A manhunt has been launched to arrest Kipchumba Michael Kibet.

“We appeal for any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect and urge the public to desist from engaging in criminal activities,” said the police.
