A suspected thief has been lynched in Likoni, Mombasa County.
The mob descended on Hamisi Bakari, 33, after he was allegedly caught breaking into a house and stealing household items at Mwenza C area today morning.
His accomplices allegedly escaped the lynch mob by a whisker, according to an eye witness.
His body was removed from the scene by people who identified him.
Police from Vijiweni police post visited the scene before recording statements from locals.
This comes a day after Mombasa County commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo ordered chiefs, sub-chiefs and locals to surrender criminals in their midst to police.
Likoni constituency has witnessed a spate of crime with residents’ revealing that the thugs are usually young boys.
