1,068 test positive, 290 recover as 12 others succumb to COVID-19

1,068 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country bringing total infections to 47,212.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new infections are from a sample of 7,556 tested in the last 24 hours.

Of the new infections 666 were male and 402 female with the youngest being six months old and oldest 94 years.

Coast region recorded 110 new infections; 74 from Mombasa, 34 Kilifi while Lamu and Taita Taveta recorded one case each.

Nairobi had the highest share of the new infections with 305 cases.

The country recorded 290 more recoveries to push total recoveries to 33,050.

Of the new recoveries, 235 are from the home-based program while 55 were discharged from various health facilities across the country.

However, 12 more patients succumbed to the disease raising total COVID-19 fatalities to 870.
