Mombasa registers 58 new COVID-19 cases

Mombasa County has recorded another 58 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman on Thursday announced that Mombasa County had the second highest new infections after Nairobi which registered 81 new cases.

The country recorded 271 new COVID-19 cases from 5034 samples tested over the last 24 hours raising the positive cases nationally to 40,178.

Of the new infections, the youngest is a one-year-old infant and the oldest is 83 years old with males leading with 177 cases while 94 of the cases were female.

Aman also announced that 51 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours bringing the number of recovery to 31,710.

29 patients were released from different health facilities and 22 were under the home-based care based program.

“Three people have also succumbed to the virus bringing total fatality to 75,” said CAS Aman.

Other counties with new cases include; Turkana 16, Kisumu 15, Garissa 15, Kiambu 13, Kisii 10 Laikipia 8, Uasin Gishu 5, Nyamira 4, Kwale 2 and Meru one.
