Former Mombasa senator who is also Deputy President William Ruto’s close ally has accused President Kenyatta’s family of intentions to take over Mombasa County for their own business interest.

While addressing the media from his renaissance office in Mombasa on Saturday, Sarai said that Kenyatta’s family was fronting Mombasa business man Suleiman Shahbal for gubernatorial seat in 2022 elections in order to serve their business interest in Mombasa.

Sarai said that since he is opposed to their business; they opted for Shahbal whom he accused did not put the interest of Mombasa residents at hand.

On the Building Bridges Initiative, Sarai said that he supports Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and are opposed to any changes to 2010 constitution, accusing ODM party leader Raila Odinga for misleading the country for his own benefit.

Sarai who stood out to oppose Buxton housing project which is set to begin in January 2021 at a cost of sh.6 billion said that if the project is implemented Mombasa County government will lose a total of 5 billion in a period of two years.

The former legislature also accused businessman shahbal over the project saying it was only a project set for him to get money to use during 2022 election campaigns.

Sarai also revealed that he had met Deputy President William Ruto on Friday and assured the ODM party to prepare for a stiff battle over Msambweni Parliamentary by-election scheduled for 15th December.

He said that the Election set to be held following the death of former Member of Parliament Suleiman Dori will reflect the outcome of the 2022 election.

Part of members of parliament from the coast including Khatib Mwashetani, Mohammed Ali and Aisha Jumwa fronted the late Dori’s personal assistant to ruto’s office a few hours after Jubilee said that they will not field a candidate in Msambweni by election.

The Ruto allies further confirmed that they have a candidate in Msambweni whom they will ensure clinches the seat.
