Coast region register 11 new COVID-19 cases as 10 succumb

Coastal region has registered 11 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Speaking during COVID-19 updates at Afya House, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi said among the coastal counties, Mombasa registered (7) and Kilifi (4) new virus infections.

Mwangangi also announced that the Country recorded 96 new cases of Covid-19 in 3,270 samples tested in the last 24 hours, raising the country’s total to 36,301.

10 patients also succumbed to the virus and the number of fatalities risen to 634 people since the first case was reported in the country in March.

Mwangangi said age-wise, the youngest was a five-year-old child while the oldest was 81 year old.

Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 26 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Kisii (10), Busia (8),), Uasin Gishu (7), Kisumu (7), Machakos (6), Kericho (5), Samburu (2), Nakuru (2), Kajiado and Kiambu two cases each while Bomet, Embu and Kakamega all had one case each.

Another 121 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 23,364.

A total of 97 of those discharged were from the home-based program, while 24 were discharged from various health facilities.
