Alarm as Kitui county records 54 new COVID-19 cases

The Country has for the first time registered more women with COVID-19 virus infection in the last 24 hours with Kitui county recording the highest number of new cases.

Speaking during COVID-19 updates, Health Cabinet Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman announced that female leads with 77 cases while male 74 men.

The Country did not register any death and the number of fatalities remains at 599.

The number of people infected with the virus has risen to 35,356 after 151 more people tested positive in 2,552 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

For the first time, Kitui County leads in the daily positivity rate, recording 54 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Nairobi 23, Uasin Gishu 11, Kiambu nine,  Kisii seven, and Trans Nzoia six.

Mombasa (2) cases, Taita Taveta (2) and Kilifi (2) cases.

Aman also announced that 173 people recorded from the virus raising recoveries to 21,483 people.
