Coast region records only three new COVID-19 infections

Mombasa county has recorded only three new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours representing the entire coastal regions.

According to the COVID-19 daily update report, the three cases are in Mvita two and Nyali one.

This is after the country on Wednesday recorded 178 new positive cases from a sample size of 3,474 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases to 34,493.

“From the cases, all are Kenyans except 5 who are foreigners,” read the statement in part.

In terms of gender, 110 are males and 68 are females. The youngest is a three year old child, while the oldest is 77 years old.

Nairobi county continues to lead with the number of infection after recording 48 new cases followed by Kericho with 24 and Busia 22.

Meanwhile, 238 patients have recovered from the disease; 187 from home based care program and 51 have been discharged from various hospitals in the country.

Unfortunately, four patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatality to 581.
