Alarm as Taita Taveta records 10 new COVID-19 cases

COVID-19 cases are surging in Taita Taveta after 10 cases which are the highest number of cases ever recorded in the county were reported in a span of 24 hours.

In a press conference health, cabinet administrative secretary Rashid Aman said that among the ten cases in Taita Taveta county,9 were from Voi and one from Taveta.

“10 cases from Taita Taveta,9 come from Voi and Taveta 1.”Amana said

Coastal counties seem to be moderately affected as Mombasa county recorded 14 cases and Kilifi four cases.

In Mombasa affected areas include  Mvita which recorded  7 cases, Changamwe 5 and Likoni 2.

The total number of cases recorded countrywide for the past 24hours was 241 cases, whereby 228 were Kenyans and 47 foreigners.

This brings the total number of people who have turned positive to 33,630.

In the national front ,Nairobi recorded 113 cases,Kiambu 10 ,Narok 9,Kirinyaga 9 ,Laikipia 7,Uasin Gishu 6,and kakamega 4.

On a positive note, no fatalities recorded in the last 24hours as the number of fatalities countrywide stands at 567.

“I am glad  to inform you that we have no reported deaths and our number of fatalities stands at 567.”Aman said

Consequently, Aman added that 66 patients were discharged,40 of whom are from home-based care programs while 26 were from various health facilities as the total number of patients discharged hit 19,434.
