Coastal counties record 9 new COVID-19 cases

Three Coastal Counties have recorded 9 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary CAS Rashid Aman on Tuesday announced new cases in Mombasa (3), Taita Taveta (3) and Tana River (3).

Aman further announced that the Country has recorded 271 new COVID-19 from 4,019 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Total COVID-19 positive cases are now at 30,636.

Nairobi County leads with 99 new cases, followed by Kiambu with 20 cases then Laikipia with 20 cases.

Aman said it was still early to make determination if new cases were reducing in the Country, saying in the recent days few samples have been tested and it did not mean that curve has reduced.

Five more people succumbed to the virus raising fatality to 487.

Aman said that they will be focused testing areas including groups that are at high risk to get the Virus.

208 more people have also recovered from the virus raising number of recoveries to 17,358.

Health officials also said that they were aware of delayed results and it was being looked at to ensure results are produced within time.
