Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Friday 31st July a public holiday to celebrate Eid-al Adha.

“In recognition of the vital role of faith as a unifying force within our Nation, and cognizant that religious and cultural diversity are at the core of our national identity; Friday 31st July, 2020 has been designated as a Public Holiday of General Observance throughout the territory of the Republic of Kenya in celebration of Idd-ul-Azha,” read a statement from CS Matiang’i.

The declaration of the Public Holiday is carried vide Kenya Gazette Notice No.5277 of 29th July, 2020,” the statement continues to read.

However, due to COVID-19, those celebrating Eid al-Adha will have to do so in strict and full compliance of the InterFaith Council following the Ministry of Health guidelines to mitigate spread of the disease.
