Nyali Mp Mohammed claimed the Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Margaret Wamboi Kenyatta are among influential people directly benefiting from a deal of transporting cargo from port of Mombasa to Naivasha through the standard gauge railway (SGR).

“Joho is the first major beneficiary of Mombasa port. His brother signed a deal to be given berth 7 and berth 8 in the port. It’s a shame that after benefitting, you leave the people of Mombasa to suffer”, he said.

Speaking in Nairobi while flanked by former Mombasa County senator Hassan Sarai, Ali vowed to re-introduce a motion seeking to removal of Transport CS James Macharia.

His first motion was dismissed by the National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi over insufficient evidence on Tuesday.

Ali also vowed to collect more signatures from Mps to meet the threshold to re-introduce the motion to kick out Macharia branding him a “spanner boy of the big boys wanting to finish off the Mombasa port”.

“Macharia is being used to perpetuate corruption at the port to the detriment of Mombasa people. He also benefits by a few deals thrown his way’, alleged Ali.

He further accused Mvita Mp Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir of benefitting from the Mombasa port hence keeping quiet despite the economy of Mombasa deteriorating.

“He is safeguarding his family company called mercantile cargo operations company limited which has been awarded tenders at the Mombasa port therefore he cannot speak out”, he claimed.

The Nyali Mp also accused President Uhuru Kenyatta for abandoning coast residents by failing to speak out against the injustices meted on the region.

“I will go to my people who will give us the political direction to follow. We will demonstrate and we will not relent despite death threats that we may receive”, he vowed.
